Before anyone swings a hammer

South Coast AQMD requires an asbestos survey by a certified consultant before demolition, and notification before work starts. Older homes in particular can hide asbestos and lead. If you're unsure what applies to your job, check with your contractor or South Coast AQMD first.

We can't take hazardous waste, so anything containing it has to be handled separately before it reaches our dumpster.

Do the weight math

Dumpster Included weight Overage
10 yard 2,000 lbs $7 per 100 lbs
15 yard 2,000 lbs $7 per 100 lbs
20 yard 3,000 lbs $7 per 100 lbs

Example: 2,800 lbs of tear-out in a 15 yard is 800 lbs over, which adds $56. Concrete, brick and dirt need a conversation first, because they can go over the limit long before the dumpster looks full.

Where the dumpster goes on a demo job

Heavy loads make placement matter even more. Pick a spot that's firm and as level as possible, close to where the debris comes out, and not under anything low. We check slope, clearance, surface and width with you before delivery. In the City of LA, some rules also cover where mixed construction and demolition debris gets processed, so ask your contractor what your permit requires.

Tear-out vs. full demolition

Interior tear-out Kitchens, baths, flooring and non-structural walls. A 15 or 20 yard usually handles this, depending on what's coming out.
Bigger demolition Tell us the materials and quantity. Heavy material may take more than one trip. We'll tell you honestly if a larger hauler is the better choice.
